Martin Lynch is a PhD candidate at the University of Queensland. He spent much of his career in operational and analytical roles in mining companies, including Rio Tinto and Iluka Resources, before owning and managing a solar energy business from 2009 to 2024. He is now focused on research into the relationship between mining and broader economic trends, and has published several academic papers and the book Mining in World History.
